Artist's Description

I made this sculpture while teaching a class at the Vero Beach Woodcarvers organization. We were lucky enough to find among the staff at the VFW Post this model who had striking features and presence. He reminded me of an old hippie.

About Eduardo Gomez

Eduardo Gomez

Eduardo Gomez was born in Colombia and moved to the USA as a young man. Although Eduardo Gomez’s artistic career began while he was a young undergraduate student, his artistic development took circuitous paths due to work, travel and the demands of raising a family. Later in life, he returned to art school at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock where he completed his post-baccalaureate studies in sculpture and was admitted to the graduate school. Eduardo also studied independently under various nationally recognized sculptors. Eduardo Gomez recently published a book about his work and artistic roots called “Eduardo Gomez : Silent Messages” with an introduction and interview by Art Historian Laura M. Amrhein, PHD.
