Figurative sculptor Eduardo Gomez received two Honorable Mention awards for his work at the A.E Backus Museum Show," Made in America" which opened on October5, 2012.
The two pieces so honored, were "Old Hippie" and "The Musician with the broken nose", two fired clay portraits. Both of these portraits of local subjects are great examples of Eduardo Gomez's "Magic Realism" style. Gomez's figurative work does not try to idealize his subjects but rather attempts to highlight their differences. " I find that my job is to memorialize the uniqueness of my subjects" said Gomez. Both works will be on display at the A.E Backus Museum from October 5 though November 16. The A.E. Backus is located in Fort Pierce, Florida, 500 North Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce Florida, 34950.
